SLC survey on "Equal Pay" provides new foundations and insights for German women's soccer

After the successful European Women's Football Championship, the future of women's soccer continues to be debated. Here, two topics in particular are mentioned again and again, "Equal Pay" and "Equal Play".

Through SLC's survey on exactly these two topics, there is important new data that can be used as a basis for assessing women's soccer. 5284 people, who are fans, customers and interested parties of the men's Bundesliga, took part in this survey, which was published exclusively in the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" and has made high media waves.
From this it emerges that the majority of German supporters would like to see the implementation of both positions for the development of women's soccer: more professional conditions for women as well as an "equal(r)" premium payment in the DFB national teams, thus "Equal Pay" and "Equal Play".
It is striking that there are no significant differences between the male and female respondents, but rather a strong agreement.

59.1% answered in the affirmative to the fundamental question of whether equal distribution of the bonus was justified, and a majority of 58.3% were in favor of equal pay at the DFB. In addition, an overwhelming majority of 85.5% think that more professional conditions need to be created in women's soccer.

Furthermore, it can be seen from the survey that the emphasis on independence for women's soccer is the biggest priority, with 93.5% finding it useful for women's soccer to build its own identity (women 92.4%, men 93.6%).
In this context, SLC CEO and expert Prof. Dr. Alfons Madeja explains "that women's soccer has its own market with great potential." According to him, however, it is above all a matter of "taking the experiences of the European Championship to create a separate identity for women's soccer and not comparing men's soccer with women's, but rather perceiving the differences in order to use them for one's own identity." Madeja concludes that it's important now to "kick off a sustainable process."
