Climate protection and sustainability in the Bundesliga
Dienstag, Mai 19, 2020
The socially highly relevant topics of sustainability and climate protection have long since arrived in the Bundesliga.
As the exclusive Data Intelligence Partner of Stadionwelt, SLC Management surveyed more than 5,000 fans on the topic of climate protection in the Bundesliga as part of the Stadionwelt theme series "Sustainable Resource Management".
Debates on climate protection have long been held not only in the Bundestag. The topic is also becoming more and more frequent in areas of everyday life. However, the topic has not really been firmly anchored in German soccer to date. For example, experts are calling for ecological aspects to be incorporated as part of the licensing of the clubs. But what do the fans think about the issue of climate protection in the Bundesliga?
The majority of fans (76 percent) generally think it is right that Bundesliga clubs are committed to more climate protection. The fans are less unanimous about the extent to which the clubs' climate protection measures should be audited and certified (61.2 percent). Fans react in a similar way to the question of whether the DFL should provide appropriate impetus and incentives. Thus, 59.5 percent voted in favor of impulses and incentives and 40.5 percent of fans voted against. However, a full 61.1 percent of the fans reject the proposal to include ecological aspects as a component of licensing.
We are looking forward to the future to what extent the topics of climate protection and sustainability will find their way into the Bundesliga.
