Regional economic study for Fortuna Düsseldorf was a complete success
Together with Fortuna Düsseldorf and Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller, SLC Management presented the results of the regional economic study to the public on Oct. 15, 2021.
The study found that Fortuna Düsseldorf, as a participant in the 1st Bundesliga, generates €130 million annually in regional economic effects for Düsseldorf and the region. The city and region particularly benefit from the club in the areas of employment, sales and gastronomy.
The basis of the regional economic study was the 2018/2019 Bundesliga season, in which Fortuna triggered economic effects for Düsseldorf and the entire region, among other things, as an employer, advertising platform, retailer or also bearer of responsibility for social tasks. As part of the study, a total of 5,240 people, consisting of fans of Fortuna Düsseldorf as well as sympathizers of other Bundesliga clubs, were surveyed in a regional as well as Germany-wide study.
In addition to the effects that can be measured in monetary terms, the study also looked at the effects that cannot be measured, such as the area of corporate social responsibility.
Thomas Röttgermann, CEO: "The fact that Fortuna triggers unique emotions in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area is undisputed and well-known. The triggering of economic effects by the Fortuna seems logical, but could never be proven so far. We are therefore delighted that Professor Madeja and his team of nationally renowned experts have now been able to quantify these effects. The City of Düsseldorf and the Lord Mayor have also been constructively involved in the process and provided important input. We are very grateful for this, and in the end it has become a joint project whose results everyone stands behind."
